Silent Hill 3 – New Edition Seventeen years have passed since the events of Silent Hill, and the child Harry Mason took at the end of the first game, Heather Mason , is now a teenager. Harry takes Heather into his care and raises her as his own daughter. While at Central Square Mall , Heather falls asleep in a diner and dreams of the mysterious town of Silent Hill . In her dream, she wanders through an abandoned amusement park, where she eventually dies. Heather Waking up from a nightmare, she calls her father and says that she is going home. Gameplay is similar to that of the previous two installments: Heather must solve puzzles, collect key items, and fight monsters to survive. Heather is equipped with a flashlight and radio; the flashlight is often the only source of light, and the radio emits static when an enemy is near. Silent Hill 3 has some fresh mechanics. A new item in the series is beef jerky, which can be used to temporarily distract certain fiends. For the first time in the series, the player can die by falling down holes (except in Easy mode).
