you start off by choosing a male or female protagonist, before you’re thrust into the story. Reading dialogue does form a huge part of the game – it’s as much visual novel as anything else – and you’ll also get menu screens between chapters to customise your mechs, pilots and various other things. Still, this is a linear game that plays somewhat like a VN with strategic battles, rather than being more open and allowing you to choose routes. As you progress you’ll gain an army of mechs and pilots, who you can customise to your liking.
