Death in the Water is intended to be difficult and challenging, most players will not survive past 3 kills DitW looks – and plays – very simplistic. We start underwater immediately with a harpoon and after a couple of secs moving forward sharks start appearing. A few well-aimed shots can eliminate them but more and more keep appearing. There isn’t much to see down there… no ruins or coral reef. Just the bottom of the ocean and an invisible wall that helps focusing on only one side of the map to complete our objective. The scare factor of being in the ocean with several Great White Sharks is represented pretty well here. The music has a fitting intensity to it that captures the entire experience in a great way. The sharks are really well animated, and the environment behaves decently enough to pass as being underwater. Unfortunately there’s not much to the environment, a few rocks and some jellyfish floating around. Your speargun doesn’t shoot with enough power to pierce the sharks, so they just bounce off while also causing the sharks to bleed. That makes no sense.
